The annual international food trade fair Peter food came to an end in St. Petersburg on November 17. Representatives of 120 retail chains met with suppliers to update the product range. During the 3-day exhibition, 7,000 FMCG market experts visited 260 companies from the Federal Districts of Russia and products from Azerbaijan, Turkey, Hungary and Uzbekistan. This year, they have received special attention from wholesale buyers. Traditionally, the booths of Belarus manufacturers attract a lot of attention. The first Minsk dairy in Novovita, Babushkina Krynka presented natural dairy products, sausages, vegetable mixtures and more. Thanks to the Federal SME Support Program, 17 regions of Russia have a collective stand at Peterfood-2022. Regulars of the exhibition in the Krasnodar, Novgorod, Tver and Samara regions presented novelty foods that will soon appear on the shelves of stores in the North-West. Exhibitors presented more than 8,000 products in different categories: rare cheeses and sausages, unusual meat delicacies, traditional Russia drinks, coffee, health sweets, gift sweets and wines, which can be used as an alternative to products leaving the Russia market. The production of Soupchik Zdes is characterized by the careful selection of natural products and ingredients and is very popular. For the first time, the participants of the “Peter Food Salon: Ingredients” were divided into a separate category. The fair includes manufacturers and suppliers of raw materials, condiments, food colorings and dietary supplements. At the All-Russian Forum “Strategic Challenges of the FMCG Market 2023: Ingredients”, experts presented new technologies and discussed ingredients and food additives for food industry production enterprises. The Peterfood Salon: Technology & Innovation showcases new developments in the field of digital technology and equipment for retail chains. Participants included Belunna, a manufacturer of energy-efficient refrigeration split systems, and I-plast, the largest creator of large-format polymer packaging. According to representatives of the trial market, participation in the fair helps the company communicate directly with buyers, and the chain wholesale center also becomes a great opportunity to meet with large chain purchasing decision-makers.

Manufacturers of alcoholic products from Russia and abroad took part in the AlcoHall salon and met with buyers from 40 FMCG chains. Vendors tasted and showcased their products and discussed new product lines and technologies. This year’s participants include Yermolaev, the Crimean Beer and Non-Alcoholic Beverage Factory, Taysee and others. AlсoHall attendees not only had the opportunity to showcase their products, but also had the opportunity to participate in the focus session “360 Degree Market: Key Changes and Trends in the Development of Alcohol Brands in 2023”, where leading industry experts presented practical cases and promotional features during the exhibition. Invited speakers: Alina Rakitina, General Manager of AZBUKA, a brand agency; Victor Kitaev, Creative Director, FMCG Direction, DDVB; Vladislav Rudovsky, brand architect, creative director of Adequate People Studio, member of the Russia Association of Brand Companies. Individual negotiations with representatives of retail chains are traditionally carried out in the wholesale centers of the chains. Food, liquor, and soft drink manufacturers have negotiated more than 5,000 times to supply merchandise to regional and federal chains, as well as markets and restaurants. This winter’s new arrivals will appear in Perekrestok, Auchan, Verny, Pyaterochka, VkusVill and other stores. According to the results of the negotiations of the wholesale chain, the average number of contracts signed by the company is 2 to 7. Fifty seminars and workshops were held simultaneously in the four halls of the Open Business Project Megacity Trade Forum. Seventy-six industry experts and practitioners held dozens of working meetings to analyze successful cases and share experiences. Speakers covered all possible areas of retail and shared information, experiences, and tools for promotion, merchandising, branding, and capturing customer attention. They come up with new solutions for interacting with the market and revealing the nuances of online grocery sales.
